30:51
Sharon Gardiner-Taylor student of Adult Education at Texas A&M University. Miriam Henan told me about this.

31:18
“The California Council on Gerontology and Geriatrics (CCGG) promotes the quality of life of California’s diverse aging population through leadership and by fostering statewide collaborations among educational programs, providers, practitioners and public policy advocates in the field of aging.”

Can you zoom it in a bit?

48:08
Hi Carly, thanks for the information! What scale did they use to determine happiness?

48:09
Just to provide support for your presentation. I worked a Case Manager for over 12 years with older adults with dementia who shared their positive experiences in gardening in their homes and senior apartments.

49:50
Can we see again the whole poster, thank you.

50:28
It provided socialization, physical exercise, and better nutrition for those who enjoyed having organic gardens. With those with early onset dementia, they were able to provide daily reminders to check on their gardens and became motivated to have something to look forward to

51:32
That's a really good point. We cannot offer activities for people with dementia assuming they will like it. It's important to interview the person and others that know the person to find out what the person with dementia might actually enjoy!

53:13
So the PLWD were in the earlier stages since they were able to report on their own levels of happiness? Or were caregivers reporting on what they saw in the person?

53:23
As a certified recreational therapist, I totally agree that assessment is essential. The sensory aspects have been shown to be beneficial as well

54:17
Thanks so much Carly!

54:17
Who was delivering the gardening interventions? What expertise is needed?

54:22
Carly really knows the literature!! Brava!

55:04
It would be awesome to translate this information into a one-page "how to" document for assisted living/memory care communities that want to provide this activity but don't know how to start.

55:05
I was recently involved in a clinical study at UW - finding pleasant events to incorporate into the daily structure helped reduce irritable behaviors. Gardening was a big one. Great presentation.

56:14
That would be great! I would love a copy to give to local communities

57:05
FANTASTIC JOB, Carly!!! So proud of you!!!

57:39
Carly, such an important topic! Excellent start!!!

58:07
Really well-put together lit review, Carly. Thank you for sharing 🙂

01:00:02
Thanks, Donna.

01:12:58
Thanks.

01:15:27
Yes! I'd also love a copy of your powerpoint, Sara.

01:15:42
I could see another “how to” guide for this presentation too!!

01:17:31
We clearly need to do a better job talking about death and dying with our students/clients/families.

01:19:05
There is a wonderful book called Being Mortal by Atul Gawande

01:19:13
I use that one in my class Lisa!

01:20:05
Practicum/internship counseling learners at hospice sites have processed during group supervision. We have applied group as the primary support to supplement their site supervisor's guidance. However, we have a shared issue in counseling programs with the lack of curriculum surrounding death and dying.

01:21:09
Go, Sofia, Go!

01:33:26
Can we posted on CCGG for website?

Hi Marcia, I am wondering if there was a common thread across the increased concerns responses. Were the same individuals in this category? What background did they share? Did you do any type of personality trait measure to identify a potential relationship with traits?

02:01:32
Hi Marcia, this sounds like a very interesting program-thanks for sharing! Such an important area to address. I was wondering if the literature discusses cultural differences in how this program influences participants?

02:01:51
Thank you for sharing and all the wonderful presentations.

02:02:44
I would love the manual kfazio@fullerton.edu
