Would the high level of education be considered a bias
Laurinda, American River College
01:19:23
How was the survey conducted? What format?
Taara Hoffman (she/her) SF State
01:19:38
Hi Jodie, Thank you for your presentation. Did you use a particular survey template in addition to adding your own questions? Taara
Caitlin CSUF she/they
01:20:03
Super interesting, great job!
Laurinda, American River College
01:20:10
Ah Qualtrics
Maryam Talakoob
01:20:18
The bias would be in the form of having information, being more informed and having an understanding above average of how the researcher is doing the survey
Sara Bartlett, Cal Poly, SLO
01:20:49
Very interesting study! Were the older adults all community dwelling?
Maryam Talakoob
01:20:57
Hi Tara Hoffman. Thank you for seeing me here.
Sara Bartlett, Cal Poly, SLO
01:22:37
Thank you
Caitlin CSUF she/they
01:29:26
the wrap party sounds so fun!
Jennifer Trevitt (she/her) CSUF
01:35:23
Wonderful presentation! Thank you!
Caitlin CSUF she/they
01:35:25
great job!
Mary Marshall CSULB
01:35:27
Thanks for sharing your personal experience too! I love that personalization
Erika Duarte
01:35:41
Great presentation!
Valeria Cardenas USC
01:36:05
👏
Alexandra Wilkinson | CSULB
01:37:24
Great presentation! What was the estimated hour total for your students?
Alexandra Wilkinson | CSULB
01:37:35
For each student
Taara Hoffman (she/her)
01:38:53
Thank you for this presentation, Allison! Did you find (or was there even a way to measure) that the personalities of the students influenced how the program impacted them?
Allison Scholl Cal Poly
01:40:11
Alexandra- Students met with their older adult partners individually three different times. Each session lasted about an hour. The start-up party and the wrap-up parties were about two hours.
Alexandra Wilkinson | CSULB
01:40:26
Thank you!
Donna Jensen (she/her) Sac State
01:40:29
while we may be running out of time right now, hopefully the presenters can hang out for our 11:00 networking/discussion.
Caitlin CSUF she/they
01:41:42
This conference is always so fun! We get to see so many cool things in so many different areas. Great job!
Allison Scholl Cal Poly
01:42:02
Taara- I think the personalities of both the students and the older adults affected the outcome of their collective experiences. We only collected quantitative data from the students but there is certainly a wide range of opinions from them. Overall, reactions have been positive
Taara Hoffman (she/her)
01:42:53
Thank you!
Caitlin CSUF she/they
01:44:00
Maybe zoom in on different sections as you discuss?
Laurinda, American River College
01:46:07
Sara, I am wondering if you are thinking about repeating the zoom study even after in person can resume. We know that upcoming aging cohorts will be more and more skilled online and between group comparisons could provide interesting data about the increasing competency online.
Laurinda, American River College
01:46:37
Also Sara,
Laurinda, American River College
01:47:25
Oops, where the participants community dwelling, in residential settings or a mix?
Sara Bartlett, Cal Poly, SLO
01:48:09
Hi Laurinda. Yes, that is a great idea to keep studying this as we continue doing this project virtually in the future. We actually didn't collect research data on the OA responses, but hope to do so in the future. And I agree, the OA did not have any problems using the technology. We all just struggled with time zones :-)
Caitlin CSUF she/they
01:48:43
Great job!
Sara Bartlett, Cal Poly, SLO
01:49:02
Also, Laurinda, most of the OA were community dwelling. A few lived in retirement communities and we know of one who lived in an assisted living facility. For the in-person version, they all live in independent living retirement communities.
Taara Hoffman (she/her)
01:49:04
Thank you for this! How long did your study take?
Sara Bartlett, Cal Poly, SLO
01:50:15
Thank you for this presentation. Very interesting!
Maryam Talakoob
01:50:26
Did the study participants'type of job they had performed throughout their were studied ? Did their posture had any relationship to the type of work they have done?
Mariana Guzzardo (she) CSU, East Bay
01:50:39
Can you give more information about the longitudinal study you used?
Mariana Guzzardo (she) CSU, East Bay
01:51:04
What are the next research steps with this?
Mariana Guzzardo (she) CSU, East Bay
01:53:04
Great presentation, thanks
Sara Bartlett, Cal Poly, SLO
02:03:11
This is such an important study Valeria! As a former Hospice Social Worker, I've seen how referrals from MDs skip over the important intermediate period of time when patients would be such a good fit for HBPC programs. How can we promote MDs referring to HBP more?
Jennifer Trevitt (she/her) CSUF
02:03:40
The name change idea is good!
Sara Bartlett, Cal Poly, SLO
02:05:08
Thanks Valeria!
Erika Duarte
02:05:14
Agreed many older adults rely on their Physicians for guidance as such physician education is greatly needed. Great job!
Taara Hoffman (she/her)
02:05:35
“Comfort Care” ?
Karen Fazio, CSUF
02:05:45
So agree, even calling it, "supportive care."
Suzanne Beaumaster, University of La Verne

wellness and support services...
Mary Marshall CSULB
02:16:51
Great job Erika!
Alexandra Wilkinson | CSULB
02:17:10
Very informative!
Sara Bartlett, Cal Poly, SLO
02:17:11
Great presentation Erika! Such an important topic.
Taara Hoffman (she/her)
02:18:52
Thank you, Erika! Did you find that further research is needed on the ‘personality/mindset’ of the recipients and whether or not they are more willing to move? (Similar to last question.)
Caitlin CSUF she/they
02:19:46
Well said!
Jennifer Trevitt (she/her) CSUF
02:20:20
Great presentation Erika! As a bit of a follow up to the first question, did you look at any differences between the folks who moved into facilities voluntarily, vs those who were “forced” to?
Sara Bartlett, Cal Poly, SLO
02:20:28
Great point Julie! It would be great if ALFs had a monthly memorial service/celebration. The ADC I once worked for did that and it was really well received
Donna Jensen (she/her) Sac State
02:23:08
I’m wondering if there was/would be variability based on the type of AL community that is affordable - there is a HUGE range of AL communities. Not all are palaces.
Jennifer Trevitt (she/her) CSUF
02:23:19
Great - thanks for answering my question!
Erika Duarte
02:25:01
Donna- Yes, I think there would be variability based on facility type based on socioeconomic resources. Definitely another space for study.
Erika Duarte
02:25:26
It's exciting to do research and learn there is so much more to continue exploring :).
Donna Jensen (she/her) Sac State
02:25:50
SO cool Erika. Lots of great research areas there!

Karen Fazio, CSUF
02:39:45
Excellent research -- finally a theory that accurately represents the community I know and am a part of.
Sara Bartlett, Cal Poly, SLO
02:39:56
This is fantastic, Julie! Is this study published? I'd love to incorporate it into my class. It is so much more empowering than how I am currently addressing this topic.
Alexandra Wilkinson | CSULB
02:40:28
I agree Sara!
