17:56
So I had set up my recurring meetings but I got a message that went out to students saying that there was a meeting scheduled

18:15
I checked my meetings on zoom and there was not anything listed

18:32
i'm really interested in how to do recordings please

19:01
Can we pin ASL interpreter?

20:44
Hello @jbrighton4, Thank you for letting us know. We will cover screen sharing in this session, but more advanced topics like breakout rooms and polling will be offered in another session later in the week.

21:35
@Elizabeth please submit a ticket via: https://csus.service-now.com/service/?id=help

21:45
Please be sure to record ASL interpreter in large screen so we can have that as a resource for Deaf fac

22:11
@Amber, we will cover recordings in this session. Thank you!

22:39
Academic Continuity Link: https://www.csus.edu/academic-affairs/academic-continuity/resources.html

22:42
@Evan yes, hover over the ASL Interpreters video pane and click the '3 dots' in the top right corner, then hit 'pin video'.

22:53
Zoom URL: csus.zoom.us

25:23
I sent zoom a message

26:24
I needed the info on schedule sessions thanks

27:05
@Evan Awesome! I am glad we covered what you needed.

27:59
do you mind showing me where to find the schedule sessions again’

28:22
Can we only use numbers for our personal meeting room link?

28:23
If I'm doing this from outside Canvas, can I get an attendance report? (probably not); I teach at SCC and CSUS and have a Zoom Pro Account not associated with each.

28:48
How I view the pinned ASL interpreter and the shared screen side by side in same size:

28:55
I sent y'all a message too

29:54
Move the shared screen to one side ? I can’t move it. I can change the size of shared screen

29:59
Can you record a meeting without inviting anyone? Like making an informational video for the class but not having to do it through Youtube?

30:14
can we also still use mediasite to record lectures? or should we only be using zoom now?

30:20
@Evan after you pinned the ASL interpreter, click Speaker view in the top right hand corner of Zoom

30:34
Can I use the chat to upload screenshot?

30:50
Hello @Courtney, Yes, you can launch you personal meeting room and then record just yourself and provide the recording to your students.

31:10
@Evan yes, here is a link on how to do so: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/209605493-In-Meeting-File-Transfer

31:14
yay- thanks so much!

31:39
@Amber, you are welcome to use Mediasite to pre record lectures if you already use it and feel comfortable using the tool.

33:03
How do you record a lecture with a zoom meeting without students, then make it available for students to view?

33:43
what happens if the scheduled meeting will go over the specified time? can we adjust t?

33:47
@Elizabeth The personal meeting ID does only utilize numbers, yes.

34:50
Hi @Carol.mansyur, we would recommend using your personal meeting room. Starting a session with just yourself, clicking record to the cloud and then sharing your screen, teach your lecture as planned. Then you can share the recording link to your students once finished.

35:43
If we schedule recurring until the end of the semester, how do we cancel for spring break?

36:07
is there a way to allow when the questions come in? that way some questions wont disrupt the scheduled time?

36:25
How do you show a PowerPoint and discuss live during your zoom session?

36:34
Is there a way to add text in the video not in chat feature

36:56
Thanks! I teach two sections of a course. Can I record in one section's canvas, can I let students access it from another? Or would it be better to create it in zoom independently of canvas?

37:20
Hi @jmack, yes, we have resources for everyone including students on the Academic Continuity webpage: https://www.csus.edu/academic-affairs/academic-continuity/resources.html

37:32
@tajlilho the recording will keep going until you end it, so if you go over the scheduled time, it will continue.

37:56
Hi @m.kubiak, we will cover screen sharing shortly. Thank you.

38:55
@tajlilho You can adjust the chat manually following the instructions at this link: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203650445-In-Meeting-Chat

39:17
I

39:34
@judyrodriguez, thank you for your question. Once the Zoom session is scheduled, you can click on a particular session and delete it if needed.

39:34
@carol you can record a single recording in one course but make it available to both.

39:46
I can’t fix the screen size. The ASL interpreter is blocking the view of screen sharing

40:16
Other is I can’t send file here in chat. I’ve looked at the information on how to do that. I”ve changed settings to allow file transfer during chat

40:38
it says to click on “more” in chat feature, I’m not seeing it

41:43
can we test a zoom session before going live with the students?

42:32
Is there going to be a ZOOM training for students?

42:33
@m.kubiak yes, I would use the personal meeting room. You can grab a buddy and send them your link to test if you like.

42:34
In making the zoom recording how do I make my screen small and share my powerpoint and scroll along the way you are?

43:04
@Evan at the top of your screen where there is a green bar saying "You are viewing Yazmin Vera's screen" Click on "View Options" and ensure that 'Side-by-side mode is enabled.

43:42
Hi @nmehta, we are working on some specific instructions and support for students. At this time students can access videos on how to use Zoom at our Academic Continuity page: https://www.csus.edu/academic-affairs/academic-continuity/resources.html

44:09
@nmehta we will continue to update this page as more resources become available for everyone.

44:11
Can you overgo how to switch control to students if they are presenting something from their computer.

44:18
oops

44:21
go over again

44:57
@wycoffs we have purposely muted everyone for the time being. We will have a question and answer session in a bit.

45:46
I see no raised hand

45:56
i see no raised hand either

46:13
@OJT here is a link on how to share your screen: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362153-Sharing-your-screen

46:58
@ehsan I have been able to click on side by side view, and sort of adjust to see the interpreter side by side. I lose the chat screen though

47:15
Oh there is pop out for the chat screen

47:57
I fixed it! I can see the interpreter better now finally

48:20
@Evan Great! Happy we got it going.

48:40
can we do a separate Q&A session later instead of asking questions in the middle of the demo?

49:45
@Evan we are also trying to record the split screen view of the demo and ASL interpreter as well and will provide that at a later date.

49:49
I would like to lecture mathematics tasks, what tool I use?

49:49
@youngim, Yes, that is our plan. We hope to have some time after the demo for this.

50:41
@ehsan, I stilll can’t figure out how to upload file- I want to be able to share screenshots and be able to tell students /collegues how to do that

51:15
If powerpoint and videos are already on Canvas, do we need a separate desk top folder?

51:20
Sorry - missed first 30 minutes. Can you discuss the use of virtual

51:57
@m.kubiak no, you can access your files from Canvas if you choose.

52:07
@sedahtath here is a link discussing the use of annotation tools and whiteboard: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005706806-Using-annotation-tools-on-a-shared-screen-or-whiteboard

52:26
thanks that’s what I need to know - how to do text can use share screen feature for that!

52:27
“virtual waiting room” to give individual cries for interior design students. Using this feature vs. setting up individual zoom meeting for each student in the course

53:00
How did you get to the drawing feature—missed it!

53:02
@Dustin Littrell I am sorry you missed the first 30 minutes, we are recording the session and other recording can be found at Academic Continuity: https://www.csus.edu/academic-affairs/academic-continuity/resources.html

53:09
Me too re drawing feature

54:21
@Dustin Littrell You can use the personal meeting room, and use a waiting room.

55:02
@Lynda the Whiteboard is under “Share” and then “whiteboard”

55:24
virtual waiting room?

56:03
@Lynda you were hard to hear. We would be happy to answer your question feel free to turn up your mic

56:08
where is personal meeting room located

56:35
Can't see anything but desktop background

56:39
All I see is Vera's background

57:09
can we have a separate pdf or file for list of all files/tips shared here in chat and during zoom?

57:11
I want to go to those sand dunes.. lol!

58:12
@nmehta :-) Us too!

58:15
I have technical questions re breakout rooms- following this discussion

58:21
@Dustin Here is a link with more information on the waiting room: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115000332726-Waiting-Room#h_3f9ffa2e-6735-4da1-b56c-c9518f2fd57b

58:49
@Dustin should be under 'For an Individual Meeting'

59:17
Is there a way to ensure that every student stays on mute?

01:00:01
Yazmin -- what just happened to you (not sharing screen) has happened several times when I attended another meeting. The presenter kept asking us if we could see the screen and we could not. Then she would reshare. How do I prevent that? Someone recently suggested it "might" happen if windows are not maximized, but wanted to ask you -- I don't want that happening.

01:00:08
Here is a link for breakout rooms: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206476313-Managing-Video-Breakout-Rooms

01:00:21
@nmehta yes, as a host you can Mute All and then select the option to disable students from unmoving themselves.

01:01:29
are zoom mtgs going to be limited to 40 minutes or do we have unlimited zoom meetings

01:01:33
Is the hands icon working here for show who has a question ?

01:02:21
That makes sense. Thank you

01:02:32
what are we doing to address students' not having access to wifi consistently to attend class virtually? There are a lot of students who do not know where to go to attend class online --for example, one said that they lives in a very noisy house.

01:02:33
@Dustin there are no time caps for Zoom meetings.

01:03:14
I still never saw raise hands on this meeting

01:03:15
Some students have ear buds -to listen to audio… I agree re wifi access is limited to some students

01:03:47
And if they use their phone... they can't see the info on the screen very well.

01:03:58
Using iPad Pro with Zoom, Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TI43FzHd6Q

01:03:59
same here- My students could figure out how to do the hand raise thing when I did small zoom discussion with them earlier in week but I can’t find the hand raise on my end

01:04:33
So I am making a list for my students should we include please computers for online lectures

01:04:41
agree, tablet is of interest with interior design students for critiques

01:04:43
Is there a way to get tech support in real time for students who may have difficulties/questions with Zoom?

01:04:57
I am interested.

01:04:58
I'm interested! thank you

01:05:00
interneted

01:05:09
I’m interested as well. Thank you!

01:05:11
For hand raising you have to click on participants on the bottom of the screen

01:05:18
I would like to learn about the use of a tablet during a zoom class meeting

01:05:19
many other faculty are asking about using tablets with Zoom

01:05:43
@Nancy Sweet yes, students should call or contact the IRT Service Desk 916.278.7337 or servicedesk@csus.edu

01:06:37
Thank you to Corrin & Yazmin for providing these trainings! And for your patience...

01:06:57
@nmehta you are so welcome!

01:09:14
Tablet is of interest for ASL major students as they use lot of video work

01:09:37
@Evan we will be making future material to cover tablets and Zoom

01:10:03
@ehsan- thanks

01:10:09
To confirm: If we are good on Canvas, we can "leave" now, right?

01:10:11
Where may I find a copy of the recording for this session? My apologies if the question has already been addressed.

01:10:16
I’ve recorded a zoom mini lecture but a long time ago—I need a brief review - how to do, how to upload—thanks!

01:10:31
@Patricia it is entirely up to you, we are covering Canvas basics today.

01:10:42
id like to know about the zoom mini lecture recording with Lynda too please

01:10:43
Thanks for the information :)

01:10:50
@ehasn- how do we get real time tech support if have issues with zoom while we are using zoom in real time? - I can’t pick up the phone and call not always

01:11:04
Thanks! Bye, all! Just remember that "it doesn't have to be perfect... and that's okay." Breathe

01:11:07
Agreed on the zoom mini lecture recording.

01:11:22
@Lynda we have recorded these webinars covering Zoom, they can be found on our Academic Continuity page: https://www.csus.edu/academic-affairs/academic-continuity/resources.html

01:11:34
Bye! Remember to join your union- CFA! Stay healthy!

01:11:37
I need a blank course for practice!!

01:11:58
@Maria you can find the links to the recordings at the Academic Continuity resources page https://www.csus.edu/academic-affairs/academic-continuity/resources.html

01:13:26
@Evan for support, students/faculty should call or contact the IRT Service Desk 916.278.7337 or servicedesk@csus.edu

01:14:04
How do I share my ppt slides or my computer screen when teaching with zoom?

01:14:15
I’m not seeing captioning or Real time captioning here at all

01:14:31
captions are in another window https://app.cloudwriter.cc/f/8fa49b85-a7f8-4055-91e0-5ba771e974ac

01:15:20
Hi I wonder how I can create break-out rooms for groups in Zoom meeting I have created via Canvas.

01:15:41
Hi Checkout you will use the Share Screen option

01:16:18
@Checkout From the meeting Control Toolbar, select the Share Screen button (green button) then select Desktop/Screen and open your ppt as you normally do

01:16:27
How to I create Exam/Quizzes in multiple choice with Canvas? What is Speedgrading and how do I use it? What is the advantage. After students finish exam are their scores automatically populated in Canvas in the grade section?

01:17:39
@Evan when you do a cloud recorded meeting, you can enable captions

01:18:16
@ozcelikh break out rooms will be covered at a later webinar date

01:19:51
@checkout these topics will be covered in this webinar, and are also available in the previously recorded webinars located here: https://www.csus.edu/academic-affairs/academic-continuity/resources.html

01:20:17
My quick question is whether creating breakout rooms is possible in Zoom meetings created in Canvas.

01:20:57
Can you, please, record these session, so we can watch at a later time too?

01:21:00
Because looking at meeting page I have created I cannot see many options.

01:21:16
@checkout Exams that do not require you to grade them such as multiple choice or true/false will be automatically graded.

01:21:27
Because looking at Zoom meeting page I have created in Canvas I cannot see many options.

01:22:44
@ozcelikh yes you can create breakout rooms. Here is a helpful link: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206476313

01:23:07
@abdul these sessions are recorded and available at: https://www.csus.edu/academic-affairs/academic-continuity/resources.html

01:28:04
I have seen this resource yet the zoom page interface shown in this instruction is different from what I see in Zoom page in Canvas,

01:28:07
How can we have an automatic deduction for late quizzes or assignments?

01:28:27
is there screen shots or how navigation on canvas differs between platforms, e.g. desktop, iPhone, android, tablet, Samsug phone…I learned that content course organization differs between platforms

01:28:57
@ozcelikh we did not enable breakout rooms for this session

01:29:29
Can you review- extra credit grading? And how to change from points to letters?

01:30:42
I mean Canvas page for courses I teach, I cannot see breakout rooms in these pages, and would appreciate if you can let me know how I can set these rooms in my classes since I would need them in our upcoming meetings.

01:31:27
@Evan here is a link for some Canvas FAQ's: https://www.csus.edu/academic-affairs/academic-continuity/resources.html

01:31:58
Question for ZOOM meetings, if a student uses a smart phone to access the online meeting, will they have access to all the same tools that a user would have on a laptop or desktop?

01:32:06
@ehsan- thanks! And will you be reviewing discussion in canvas?

01:33:00
@ozcelikh please contact us using this link: https://www.csus.edu/information-resources-technology/get-support-consultation/

01:33:51
@Evan no problem! And how do you mean?

01:34:27
Can we make accommodations with time limit for disabled students who normally get more time for exams?

01:35:14
@eshan I mean the discussion tool in canvas- how to set group discussions- and how to limit discussion posts to be in video format only so students must reply in ASL (sign language video)

01:35:24
@judyrodriguez yes, you can change the time limit for that particular student.

01:35:34
Asynchronous discussion I mean in Canvas

01:36:26
@Evan I will put that in with Corrin at the end, no worries

01:36:26
re quzzies- is there a way to import quiz into canvas quiz?

01:38:10
How literal are the answers? If students don’t use proper punctation does it result in bring graded as ‘wrong’?

01:38:24
I would like instructions on converting a word doc through Respondus please.

01:39:46
@barbararead thank you for the question, we will cover that topic at a later date, as we only have time to cover the basics today.

01:39:48
how about extra credit on quizzes? eg. One extra question- how does the points work?

01:41:10
I sent you a message via Service Desk about break-out rooms and look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

01:41:17
how do students enter answers to essay ques

01:41:21
Is there a way to give extra time to disables students?

01:41:29
Is this webinar available online somewhere?

01:41:36
I meant disabled …

01:41:40
My question is about Zoom if I can ask this now. I teach 3 section of the same class and would like to give access to lectures to lectures in another section if possible.

01:42:21
how do I upload an old multiple choice exam in Word where the answers are in a, b, c, etc format?

01:42:43
@b.kammerer they can be located here: https://www.csus.edu/academic-affairs/academic-continuity/resources.html

01:43:05
Responds - how to spell that?

01:43:12
wonderful, thank you

01:43:30
Respondus

01:43:37
@barbararead that is completely doable, we can help you with that if you contact the Service Desk at 9162787337

01:44:14
@Evan Respondus 4

01:45:00
You first have to log into your account at csus.zoom.us for verification.

01:47:06
Thanks, Corrin: can you walk us through ending the meeting, how to do that?

01:47:08
When setting up a quiz there is the old format and new quizzes. Can I moderate in the old quiz format. I already created my exam in that.

01:47:33
Thank you! If you schedule a webinar for group breaktout rooms, count me in.

01:47:47
Regarding the recurring meetings for classes, I am not sure if my question posted or was answered earlier. How do we cancel meetings for spring break?

01:48:11
OK thanks

01:48:15
Re - break out- how to switch back and fro between break out rooms ?

01:48:21
for the break out

01:48:26
Thanks Corrin this is great!

01:48:40
@judyrodriguz Accessing your Zoom account in Canvas, under meetings, there should be an option to delete.

01:48:40
Great session
