As one moves forward with programming composers representing more diversity, how do you emphasize diversity without virtue signaling or engaging in one-off tokenism?

How do we make sure we're not engaging in cultural appropriation, for example when performing vocal pieces written in dialects?
Do you invite living composers of color to come talk and engage with your students and audiences?
Do you think that a big reason why we have majority white male composers still, is because of the performers? The music world is predominantly white and male. And what exactly can we as performers and educators do to combat that.
Our cultural palette is just that. We compose, we play from what we know and have experienced and how our own inner self is informed by the truth of our being. If what we do in performance is meaningful, touching, important to you, then so be it.
